Henry SIDEBOTHAM (1851-1915) & Mary BAINES (1854-1889)

Henry SIDEBOTHAM was the son of William SIDEBOTHAM, a 'Cotton Spinner' and Sarah SWANTON. Henry was born in 1851 in Stockport, Cheshire[1] and lived with his family at 133 New Bridge Lane, Stockport, prior to moving to Wigan.

In 1874[2], Henry married Mary BAINES (1850 - 1889) in Wigan, Lancashire and they had the following children:

  1. John SIDEBOTHAM, b. 1876, Lower Ince, Lancashire.
  2. William SIDEBOTHAM, b. 1877, Lower Ince.
  3. Sarah Baines SIDEBOTHAM, b. 1879, Wigan, d. 1894, Wigan.
  4. Isabella Baines SIDEBOTHAM, b. 1880, Lower Ince.
  5. Edmund Baines SIDEBOTHAM, b. 1882, d. 1883, Wigan.
  6. James Baines SIDEBOTHAM, b. 1884, d. 1884, Wigan.
  7. Mary Baines SIDEBOTHAM, b. 1885, d. 1886, Wigan.

Henry was widowed in 1889.

By April 1891, Henry was living at 1 Ethel Street, Poolstock, Wigan, with; his widowed sister, Elizabeth MOXON (a 'General Servant', whose husband Samuel had died in 1886 at the age of 59 years), his eldest son John (a 'Grocer's Assistant'), son William (an 'Errand Boy') and daughters Sarah and Isabella. Henry was working as a 'Packer' at the Deakin's Jam Factory in Wigan (his brother-in-law's family business).

Henry died in 1915, at the age of 63 years in Wigan[3].
